Northern Ireland Assembly Debate With DETI – Video From BBC
During robust exchanges at the Enterprise Committee on 18 March 2010, two officials were told to go back to the department and ensure that the “absurd situation” was resolved. Olivia Martin, principal of DETI’s energy division, said the scheme was being introduced so that energy producers in Northern Ireland were not at a disadvantage and to increase renewable power.
However, committee chair Alban Maginness said the strategy had been “piecemeal” and accused the department of keeping the committee in the dark. He said members had endorsed the legislation, but had they known all the facts they would have had a rethink. The small energy generators, who he described as “pioneers in their field”, were now being disadvantaged.
The debate is centered around the question, Will customers who put up wind turbines pre April 2010, be paid the new enhanced 4 rocs?, This problem also happen when FIT was introduced in the UK…
